Welcome back to the 15 part series of the UX Writing Challenge. For all the new readers, this is a 15 day challenge by dailyuxwriting. All you have to do is subscribe for a news letter, no sign up, no account creation. The news letter delivers an email with a new challenge for 15 business days. Please refer to previous articles, for further details.

The Challenge

Scenario: A user is in their favorite supermarket. They open the supermarket’s app on their phone to see what’s on sale and are greeted by a promotion.

Challenge: Write a promotional home screen for a subscription service that delivers groceries to the user once-a-month for a flat fee.

Headline: 45 characters max

Body: 175 characters max

Button(s): 25 characters max

There is one important thing about the challenge that you will not receive in your email, i.e., you are supposed to challenge yourself to complete the task within 10 minutes after reading the challenge. The main reason behind the time limit is to get you prepared to a interview scenario. Typically, you will have a short span of a time as a writer under immense pressure, this challenge helps you improve your skills in that area.

The Solution

Headline: Get groceries at your door step for $3.99!

Body:Based on your previous purchases, we have an amazing one-time offer just for you. Get groceries at your door step once a month for just $1.99/month.

Buttons: Accept. Get Details. Cancel.

In the last four challenges, I have found one thing to be very challenging that is staying within the word count limit. Writing a clear message to end users in a limited number of characters is very important because users may not like seeing a long promotional notification that may not interest them. So, keeping the message short and sweet is the best way to do it. I realized that when I am working towards completing the challenge.
