The Challenge

Scenario: An elderly user is doing a Google search to find an easy way to buy contact lenses online.

Challenge: Write a title and meta description for a website that sells subscription contact lenses delivered to a user every 30 days — convince them to try it.

Title: 60 characters max
Meta Description: 160 characters max

In this digital era, there is vast increase in the number of websites and mobile apps available for users of various kinds on the internet. But, what website should you use, what website is reliable, there are many such questions to answer before you order a product from a particular website and pay for it. Also, with thousands of available options once you search for a particular product, in this scenario contact lenses, you should be able to know what the website offers without opening the page and wasting your time on it. That is the reason, websites use Titles and Meta Description.

What are Titles and Meta Description?

Title and Meta Description are pieces of html code of a website. They offer short summary of what the page is about. When you search for anything on a search engine, you can see both Title and Meta Description of the website in the search results. Below is an example of search results for contact lens online.

In general, page titles are short and meta description is a little bit longer offering much more information related to the website. Depending on the device you are searching, the length of the Title may be cut short as you can see the second search result, the Title was cut short. So, keeping your title short can guarantee that your entire title will be displayed when displayed as a search result.
